ON-SPECIFICATION USED OIL
Atlantic Industrial Services recycles used oil at each of our facilities to ensure that it meets the specifications of 40 CFR 279.11 then markets this product through energy recovery contracts established with fuel brokers, asphalt burners and other industrial fuel applications. Each entity that purchases our used oil fuel is pre-approved by our Marketing department. The buyer is screened for financial stability, credit, insurance and environmental registrations. Once the purchasing company is approved, we then direct shipments to them based on logistics and market pricing. Unfortunately, it is difficult for Atlantic Industrial Services to predetermine where all used oil collected in the field will be used for fuel, due to a variety of economic factors. We use various forms of tracking to ensure that a paper trail is established between the point of generation and disposition at the end user.
USED OIL FILTERS
Atlantic Industrial Services uses our own facility in Jackson, MS and US Foundry in Medley, FL to recycle the used oil filters collected. The recycling facility uses a shredding process to separate the filter into three different products. Each of these products is recycled as follows:
Paper/Plastic – the “fluff” of the paper and plastic found in the oil filter is collected and utilized for its BTU value.
Used Oil – the used oil is collected from the facility by Atlantic Industrial Services and is used for energy recovery at one of it’s used oil fuel accounts as mentioned above.
Scrap Metal – the scrap metal collected by AISI is shipped to a metal recycler. The scrap from the USF process is molded into manhole covers, storm drains, and other metal products.
USED ANTIFREEZE
Atlantic Industrial Services uses our own facility in Houston, TX to recycle the used antifreeze collected. We use a basic filtration and evaporation/distillation process to separate the water and ethylene glycol. The water is evaporated and the ethylene glycol is filtered then mixed with de-ionized water to be sold as Engine Shield Branded antifreeze. |
